Team Leader: Magdalena Góra is Associate Professor of political science and European studies at the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University. Her research deals with democratic challenges in the EU and legitimacy and contestation in external relations of the European Union. She participated in several research projects and currently she is a co-leader of WP on Future of Europe Debate within Horizon 2020 project EU3D. EU Differentiation, Dominance and Democracy (2018-2023) and leader of WP in Horizon Europe project SHAPEDEM-EU. Rethinking and Reshaping the EU’s democracy support in its Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood (2022-2025).

 

Marta Smagacz-Poziemska is Associate Professor of sociology at the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University. In research she focuses on urban processes, local development, urban communities and citizen participation. She participated in several research projects and currently she is a PI of the NCN project “Normality under uncertainty. Praxeological approach in research on the (re)production of ‘normal’ urban life”. She was a coordinator of the Research Network 37 (Urban Sociology) of the European Sociology Association and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the JPI Urban Europe.

 

Natasza Styczyńska is an assistant professor at the Institute of European Studies of the Jagiellonian University. Her academic interests include party politics, nationalism, populism and Euroscepticism in Central and Eastern Europe and the Balkans. She leads the JU team in H2020 REGROUP Rebuilding Governance and Resilience out of the Pandemic research project and is a director of studies of Una Europa Joint BA in European Studies at Jagiellonian. Previously, she participated in numerous research (Polish National Science Center, UK Economic and Social Research Council, Jean Monnet Networks) and educational projects (Jean Monnet Module, EurAsia Erasmus Plus Capacity Building Project, Visegrad Fund).

Katarzyna Zielińska is Associate Professor at the Institute of Sociology of the Jagiellonian University in Kraków. Her academic interests focus on few areas: gender and democracy in Central Eastern European societies, (post)secular European societies as well as transformations of collective identities in CEE in the context of the European Union. She has published numerous articles in Polish and international academic journals (e.g. East European Politics and Societies, Religion, State and Society, Culture, Health & Sexuality). She has authored two monographs and co-edited a few multi-author monographs. She participated in several research projects. Currently she is involved in two EU funded projects EU3D. EU Differentiation, Dominance and Democracy (2018-2023) and SHAPEDEM-EU. Rethinking and Reshaping the EU’s democracy support in its Eastern and Southern Neighbourhood (2022-2025).
