The second REDIRECT General Assembly held in Krakow at the Jagiellonian University in June 2024 represented a significant milestone in the project’s development.. This gathering provided an essential platform for partners to reflect on the progress made, particularly in relation to the first set of completed deliverables. It also offered a valuable opportunity for each Work Package leader to present and discuss the activities carried out within their respective domains, fostering cross-partner exchange and mutual learning.
A central theme of the meeting was the concept of “disconnect,” which was explored both theoretically and empirically. This topic served as a focal point for in-depth discussion, with several partners presenting early findings, conceptual frameworks, and methodological considerations relevant to their ongoing research. The theoretical dialogue was enriched by concrete empirical examples drawn from preliminary data.
The one-and-a-half-day event was further elevated by a keynote speech from Professor Jan Kubik (Rutgers University, USA), titled “Populism and Representative Democracy.” His thought-provoking talk sparked an engaging conversation among participants, bridging academic insight with the project’s applied focus.
The final session of the meeting was dedicated to methodological planning, specifically focusing on the tools and frameworks that partners will use to analyse qualitative data from focus groups and interviews. This forward-looking discussion helped align research strategies and set the stage for the next phase of data collection and analysis.
