The REDIRECT consortium was pleased to welcome Prof. Pierangelo Isernia, Principal Investigator of the EUComMeet project, to the General Assembly hosted at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB).

Funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme, EUComMeet is an innovative research initiative exploring how deliberative democracy can function effectively within complex governance systems. Through digital deliberative platforms, the project investigates how meaningful citizen participation can:
– Reduce political polarisation
– Strengthen European identity
– Promote inclusion and reflective engagement
– Bridge the gap between policymakers and citizens
📊 Contribution to REDIRECT:
During the session, Prof. Isernia presented key findings from EUComMeet’s large-scale deliberative experiments held across multiple countries and levels of governance — from local to European. Participants engaged through digital forums, video discussions, and live plenaries, offering valuable data on cross-national deliberation and citizen engagement.
EUComMeet’s insights enriched the REDIRECT dialogue on the future of representation and democratic innovation, providing comparative and methodological perspectives that align closely with REDIRECT’s mission.
