REDIRECT research was presented at a workshop of the European Consortium for Political Research Joint Sessions held in Prague, Czech Republic. The event brought together scholars working on key debates in contemporary political science, including representation, populism and democratic theory.
The presentation, given by Kevin Meyvaert, introduced the paper “What you see is what you get”: How the audience shapes political representation”, which examines the growing role of political audiences in contemporary democratic systems. The research explores how audience dynamics influence representative relationships and reshape the interaction between citizens and political actors in increasingly mediatized political environments.
The workshop offered an important opportunity to exchange ideas with scholars working on populism, representation and democratic theory, contributing to broader discussions on the implications of audience democracy for contemporary representative systems.
