UNISI joins the new Erasmus+ project EuroConnect, coordinated by the Johan Skytte Institute (University of Tartu), which develops innovative tools to strengthen civic competences and democratic participation among young Europeans. The project’s activities – from civic-education workshops in Italy and Estonia to teacher-training exchanges, project-based university courses, EU-level debates, and local-issue forums, directly address several challenges highlighted by REDIRECT, including declining civic trust, weak democratic literacy, and growing gaps between citizens and institutions. By participating in EuroConnect, UNISI contributes to building a more resilient democratic culture from the bottom up, complementing REDIRECT’s research on representative disconnect with practical interventions that empower students, future teachers, and communities to engage more effectively in democratic life. The project’s final toolkit and guidelines will further support civic empowerment across Europe.
