The REDIRECT Lab for Democracy will take part in Bright-Night 2026, the European Researchers’ Night organised by the University of Siena. The event will take place in Siena on 25 September 2026, with dedicated school sessions also scheduled for the mornings of 24 and 25 September at the Santa Maria della Scala. The 2026 edition will focus on the theme of “courage”, alongside the regional themes “#ONE INNOVATION, #ONE HEALTH, #ONE HUMANITY”.
The REDIRECT Lab for Democracy will bring the project’s research on democratic representation, political responsiveness and citizen–elite relationships into a public engagement setting. Through an interactive and accessible format, the activity will invite students, citizens and visitors to reflect on how democracy works, how citizens’ voices are represented, and why research matters for understanding contemporary democratic challenges.
By connecting academic research with public discussion, the Lab will contribute to Bright-Night’s broader aim of opening the University to schools and the city, making scientific research visible, participatory and socially relevant. The initiative will also strengthen REDIRECT’s commitment to dissemination, civic engagement and dialogue beyond the academic community.
