Luca Verzichelli of the University of Siena and REDIRECT took part in the annual seminar of the Jean Monnet Chair EURECA and the ISUFI Winter School at the University of Salento in Lecce.
The seminar, “European Representation: Challenges and Adaptations,” included a roundtable titled “Who Deserves Your Trust? Democracy, Science and Citizens in Times of Distrust.” Verzichelli joined Christian Lahusen of the University of Siegen, Alessia Rochira and Pier Luigi Lopalco of the University of Salento, and chair Rosaria Rinaldi.
The discussion connected questions of trust in democracy and science with the broader challenges facing European representation. These themes are central to REDIRECT, which studies the relationship between citizens and their representatives and how it might be strengthened.
The seminar also provided an opportunity to renew academic exchanges with EURECA Chair Federico Russo and Christian Lahusen, who sent greetings to former colleagues in Siena.
