REDIRECT research was presented at a rooftop seminar hosted at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. The event brought together scholars and researchers to discuss contemporary challenges facing democratic governance in times of crisis.
The seminar focused on the relationship between emergency politics and citizens’ evaluations of democratic governance. In particular, the discussion explored how crisis situations and emergency measures may reshape citizens’ perceptions of political representation, government responsiveness and democratic legitimacy. Participants reflected on how periods of heightened executive action and accelerated decision-making can influence public expectations toward democratic institutions.
The event provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives with scholars working on democratic resilience, institutional change and the dynamics of governance under crisis conditions, contributing to REDIRECT’s broader research on the transformations of representative democracy.
