Asimina Michailidou is Senior Researcher at the ARENA Centre for European Studies, University of Oslo. Her current research, under the projects EU3D and REFLEX, analyses the role of digital news and social media in filtering and shaping public perceptions about the EU but also in facilitating democratic accountability and citizens’ mobilization, particularly in times of crisis. She focuses on the role of journalism and social media in shaping relations of trust between politicians and citizens. She holds a Ph.D. in Political Communication from Loughborough University, UK.
