A REDIRECT seminar was held at the University of Exeter focusing on the current state of democratic representation. The event brought together researchers, students and members of the academic community to discuss contemporary challenges facing representative democracy.
During the seminar, project research on the ongoing transformations of representative democracy was presented and discussed with scholars and students at Exeter. The discussion explored how democratic institutions can respond to growing concerns about political disengagement, declining trust and the broader phenomenon of democratic disconnect. Particular attention was devoted to how representative systems can adapt to changing patterns of citizen expectations and political participation.
The seminar provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and receive feedback on REDIRECT’s research while strengthening academic dialogue on the future of democratic representation.
