REDIRECT researchers from University of Salento presented experimental research at the annual meeting of the International Society of Political Psychology, held in Prague, Czech Republic. The conference brings together scholars from around the world working at the intersection of politics and psychology to discuss new research on political attitudes, behaviour and institutions.
The presentation focused on experimental findings examining how citizens evaluate political representatives and how these evaluations shape broader patterns of democratic engagement. In particular, the research highlighted the central role of perceived responsiveness in shaping trust in political actors, citizens’ willingness to participate in political processes and the emotional reactions that individuals develop toward representatives.
By presenting these results to an international audience of political psychologists and political scientists, the conference provided an opportunity to discuss the implications of the findings for understanding contemporary representative relationships and the psychological foundations of democratic politics.
