On 2 November, Professor Emeritus Mark E. Warren (University of British Columbia) will join the next REDIRECT Lunch Debate, organised in collaboration with the University of Oslo.
The session, titled Political Divisions and Gag Rules: What Role for Democratic Experiments?, will explore how democratic institutions and experimental forms of participation can address political divisions. Particular attention will be paid to the role of deliberation and the challenges of discussing contentious issues in increasingly divided societies.
The debate will be introduced and moderated by Professor John Erik Fossum (University of Oslo), with comments from Marianne Riddervold and Erlend Jørgensen (ARENA, University of Oslo).
The event will offer researchers, students, and other participants an opportunity to reflect on how democratic experiments can contribute to managing political disagreements and strengthening democratic representation.
