On April 12, 2023, Marta Smagacz-Poziemska (Jagiellonian University) met with representatives of the Youth Department of the Krakow City Hall in Krakow, Poland.
The meeting focused on exploring opportunities for establishing a formal agreement between JUK and the municipality with the aim of creating a structured pathway for integrating REDIRECT research findings into local policymaking.
The discussion centered on how empirical insights from the project could inform the planning and implementation of youth-oriented governance initiatives at the city level. In particular, the objective is to develop participatory mechanisms that foster the engagement of young people in local democratic processes—a key concern in REDIRECT’s broader investigation of representation and disconnect.
This meeting represents an important step in translating academic research into concrete policy applications, reflecting the project’s commitment to engaging with local institutions and enhancing the democratic participation of groups often underrepresented in formal politics.
