On April 21, 2023, REDIRECT took part in the Horizon Projects Cross-cluster and cross-generational meeting—an informal online gathering of representatives from three thematic clusters: “Representative Democracy in Flux”, “The Future of Democracy and Civic Participation”, and “Trust in Governance”.
The meeting provided a space for dialogue among ongoing Horizon Europe projects and previous H2020 initiatives addressing similar themes. Participants shared lessons learned, discussed methodological strategies, and identified common challenges and opportunities in the study of democratic governance.
Luca Verzichelli (University of Siena) represented the REDIRECT team, contributing reflections from the project’s early implementation phase. The session offered an important opportunity to position REDIRECT within a wider ecosystem of EU-funded research focused on democracy, participation, and trust, while exploring synergies with sister projects.
The event underscored the value of cross-project collaboration in refining conceptual frameworks, ensuring continuity across funding cycles, and fostering a shared research culture at the European level.
